Sculpture for Dubai Aluminum Company (aka Dubal) - Dubai, UAE

Heath Satow presented a specially commissioned sculpture commemorating DUBAL's twenty-five
years of operation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoumunveiled in Dubai, UAE on
January 9th, 2005. DUBAL (Dubai Aluminium) is one of the world's largest aluminum smelters, and
a significant portion of Dubai's economy.

Weighing 1500 pounds and standing nine feet tall, the highly polished sphere represents the world
cradled in a massive aluminum hand, and symbolically emphasizes the amazing growth and expansion
of both DUBAL and Dubai. Positioned at the center of the sphere is a blue aluminum piece, in the
shape of the UAE, with an ultra-bright blue LED locating Dubai.

Oh, the drama:

The self-lit parts of the globe are working nicely:

Oh, yeah, we've got it all set up now:

After the event and unveiling, lots of people
took turns posing in front of the piece:

That evening, immedately after the event, we
craned it onto its permanent base outside:

Rigging genius (and master ice climber) Nick climbed the
sculpture to drape the curtain over the piece outside,
